The Humane Society of Montgomery County is in a transition period.  Our Board meets regularly and is working towards determing the best course for our next step in our mission to promote the humane treatment of animals.  We are currently actively involved in a program with The Friendship Center in Conroe to provide pet food for the seniors served by The Friendship Center.

Lost Pets

If you have lost a pet, you should actually GO to the appropriate shelter - either the Conroe Animal Shelter on Sgt. Ed Holcomb Blvd. in Conroe, or the Mongtomery County Animal Shelter at State Highway 242 near I-45.  Calling them is not enough - you need to actually go to the shelter to see if your pet is there.  We also strongly recommend that you send out e-mails to everyone you know, post fliers with photos of your pet, and use Woodlands Online Pet Lost & Found - it is free (www.woodlandsonline.com/clps/clscatlist.cfm).  Please make sure you state when and where (intersection or address) your pet was last seen, and include a phone number where you can be reached.  We also strongly recommend that you immediately flood your neighborhood (and nearby neighborhoods) with flyers with a photo, pet name, your name, phone number, and where and when your pet was last seen.  Another good strategy is to send out e-mails to everyone you know in your area with a copy of the flyer attached, and ask them to forward it on to other neighbors who might be able to help.

Spay-Neuter & Vaccinations

If you are in need of spay-neuter services or pet vaccinations and cannot afford a local vet, please contact the Montgomery County Animal Shelter at (936) 442-7738
or SNAP in Houston at (713) 862-3863 or (800) 762-7762 (www.snapus.org/site/PageServer).  We currently do not provide any of these services.

Animal Turn-ins

If you live in Conroe and have questions about an animal turn-in, then please contact the Conroe Animal Shelter at (936) 522-3550.  If you are in Montgomery County and have questions about an animal turn-in, please call the Montgomery County Animal Shelter at (936) 442-7738.  We also urge you to try to find an animal rescue that can accept the pet you need to turn in.
